Ready to Jailbreak iPhone iOS4?

So iPhone iOS4 has just been released to the masses and for sure we’re bound to see geeks and non-geeks alike rushing over to iTunes to download the latest offering from Apple. However there are a substantial number of users out there like myself included who jailbreak their iPhones to get all the goodies that open-source hacking can provide. The iPhoneDownloadBlog has released a very good clear and concise guide to upgrading to your fanciful new OS as well as a very handy link to a Google Spreadsheet that shows which apps are working and details the issues of those apps which don’t.

UPDATE (22/06/2010): For those of you who are looking to jailbreak, the fantastic iPhone Dev Team have released their Windows and Mac OSX compatible jailbreaks for iOS4. What’s the catch? Well for now, it only works for iPhone 3G and the iPod Touch 2G. So like me, any of you waiting on an iPhone 3GS release will just have to wait a little bit longer.

The Download Links for:

Redsn0w iOS4 – Mac OSx (x86)

Redsn0w iOS 4 – Windows

Definitely go and check out the fantastic work and show your support to the iPhone Dev Team on their blog and follow their official twitter stream for more updates or check back here when I’ll be updating this post for news of when the 3GS (and in the future, an iPhone 4) jailbreak is released. Also check out this Walyou blog post for a decent tutorial on setting it up for all you beginners out there.

UPDATE (23/06/2010): More news! The Jailbreak for iOS4 is now available for those of us on the 3GS. Check the iPhone Dev Team for all the details.
