Whilst not exactly being the best looking camera on the planet and certainly not the most portable, Spyuge has managed to build this 130 Mega-pixel camera out of an old Epson flatbed scanner and an old Canon camera lens.
Read on after the jump for a video of it in action and for the stunning photos
The images that have come out from Spyuge’s website are quite stunning like the photo below that has been reduced to the meagre 600x400 size. Taking into account that a normal computer monitor’s resolution is 1024 x 768 screen resolution, this contraption takes images at a staggering 13,068 x 10,173 pixels.
The image below is that of the writing on the side of the battery, completely unphotoshopped.
All of this has been done at a fraction of the price that Sony charges for highest resolution 35-millimeter DSLR camera (A900) on the market today. And that one is only 24 megapixels, 5 times less than this invention and coming in at around $3000.
However, with all this it does make you wonder why a Japanese amateur photographer would want to build such a high resolution camera which you can pick out the little details. I mean: Japanese.. Amateur.. Photographer.. Telescopic-like Camera.. I’m just saying ..
